Georgia Master Planned Communities
No
matter where you go in North America, master planned communities are in demand. But you won't find a Georgia master planned community anywhere in the area that offers the views, private
marina and access to cruising, sailing, kayaking and swimming available
at Lake Lanier's Harbour Point Yacht Club. Lake Lanier is truly one
of the most beautiful lakes in the country
and with HPYC's 3
½ miles of protected shoreline, you can enjoy this precious
natural resource all year.
It took seven years of studying the lake and another three years of
working closely with the Army Corps of Engineers for the developers
of Harbour Point Yacht Club to achieve their goals for this master
planned community. From the beginning, the mandate was simple: develop
a community that provided added-value to each and every homesite,
by offering owners direct, deeded access to the lake through a private
marina.
Harbour Point Yacht Club is built on a unique and beautiful piece
of property. It has the most shoreline of any privately-owned property
on Lake Lanier-3 ½ miles. So the developers were keenly aware
of the need to adhere to the Corps' stringent environmental requirements
for protecting the lake and its surrounding land. At the same time,
they wanted to create a true community atmosphere with a range of
amenities not available from any other master planned community on
Lake Lanier.
That's why in 1996, Hardemann Properties and John Weiland Homes
joined forces, forming Lanier Joint Venture to develop HPYC. Hardemann
brought extensive expertise in land use and long range strategic
planning to the table, while John Weiland Homes brought more than
30 years of experience in master planned community development.
They shared a vision for a gated resort community that provided
a full range of amenities-yacht club, swimming pools, tennis center
and the private marina. They also agreed that the diversity and
value of the community should be protected by making seven top homebuilders
available to Harbour Point homeowners.
Today, the Army Corps of Engineers considers HPYC a successful
prototype for environmentally-friendly lake development that has
minimal impact on the shoreline, but maximum impact on the quality
of life for the people who live there.
HPYC looks forward to writing the next chapter of its proud history
as more people discover what resort-style lake living in a master
planned community is all about.
